Ever since I was young I have enjoyed making art. I have been taking art classes since I was 3 or 4 years old. When bored, I am usually making something. I can get caught up in art for hours. I almost went to art school, or majored in art but I really found a passion in media studies. So far I have been able to get a pretty good handle on many forms of art like painting, drawing, digital art, sculpting, making videos. Now I have turned to photography. Last year for my birthday I asked my father for a “nice” camera. He got me a Nikon D3000 which has been attached to my side ever since. This summer I worked at a small boutique in Avalon, New Jersey where I spend my summers. I became friends with my boss rather quickly and was then put in charge of window displays and the photography for her website and advertisements (www.shebesurfin.com). Ever since I have been obsessed with photography, and since so far I have only been self taught and can’t do too much besides automatic I’d really love to further my skills and get more comfortable with my D3000! I think it will really come in handy with my major, and just for the rest of my life. I’m sure I will be doing something creative when I finally enter the job world, so I think getting a good feel for photography would really help me. I’m really excited for class and for my skills to get much better.
